This is how we celebrated Europe Day on 9 May: first among the children and young people of the neighbourhoods, and later with professionals. Two very different audiences, one single idea: bringing Europe where people actually live, starting with those who risk being left at its margins.

Our first stop was the CEP neighbourhood in Palermo, where, together with San Giovanni Apostolo Onlus, Orto Capovolto, and the Municipality of Palermo, we returned the pedestrian area of Via Barisano da Trani to the community, a new space for socialising and coming together. For us, this is what active citizenship looks like in practice: a community taking care of its shared spaces.

We then continued with an important training event aimed at journalists and social workers, sharing stories and best practices about EU programmes for social inclusion and active citizenship.
