In recent years, the rise in gender-based violence in society has also affected the civil society sector, making it urgent to address the issue seriously within organisations as well.

In the end of 2025, we conducted a survey across eight countries involving 668 staff members; it revealed a clear gap between stated values and actual practices, with incidents of verbal and psychosocial violence often underestimated and going unreported.

There is a clear need for clearer procedures, extensive compulsory training and dedicated support roles, rather than mere declarations of principle.

For this reason, alongside the production of a first small tool, the "Violencemeter" to be used to raisd awareness and stimulate debate on the issue, we intend to organise a training, information and best-practice exchange event in the autumn or winter 2026, to develop concrete, shared tools together.
