The VEIL CORPS group volunteering activity in Roccalumera in support of the local community As part of the European Solidarity Corps, funded by the European Union, our international volunteers helped care for shared public spaces in an area affected by Cyclone Harry. They repainted the Allume bridge, filled the streets of Sciglio with flowers and helped improve community spaces in Roccalumera, from the social centre to the main square. The local community welcomed them with great generosity, turning the work into a celebration with refreshments, food and plenty of smiles. The volunteers also had the opportunity to discover the local area, from the Ancient Theatre of Taormina to Isola Bella beach, and spent evenings sharing traditions and typical products from their respective countries. The volunteers returned home tired but happy, with the feeling that they had made a meaningful contribution. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this experience so special! The initiative was part of the VEIL CORPS project, co funded by the European Union.
