The Almond Camp 2026 has come to an end at Girasoli Land, a property confiscated from organised crime and now a tangible symbol of hospitality and legality. The camp brought together young people from the association I Girasoli ETS and from the SAI projects (Reception and Integration System) in a volunteering experience that combined agricultural work, community life and intercultural exchange. The activities focused mainly on caring for the outdoor spaces and harvesting almonds, successfully completed thanks to effective organisation and strong teamwork. Alongside agricultural work, participants joined artistic, culinary and language workshops that fostered inclusion, non‑formal education and the development of skills relevant to active citizenship. Daily life, from managing shared spaces to moments of conviviality, enabled the creation of meaningful relationships and a rich cultural exchange, with participants communicating in different languages and weaving together traditions, personal stories and cooperative practices. The presence of guests, volunteers and local organisations such as Sea Eye, Straula, Arci, Tam Tam and the SAI centre of Riesi strengthened a network of solidarity that supports pathways of inclusion and participation. Almond Camp 2026 concluded with great satisfaction and a deep human impact: working in a confiscated property made the value of legality tangible, while collaboration among people from diverse cultural backgrounds generated both personal and community growth. An experience that comes to an end, yet continues to produce positive effects in the local area and in the lives of those who took part.
