We have successfully concluded the youth exchange “Climate Chain: empowering young people for environmental sustainability”, which we held in Riposto, near Catania. It has been an incredible week of non formal learning, intercultural dialogue and grassroots environmental activism, in which the participants explored the link between daily habits, social justice and environmental impact, and learned to use creative communication as a tool for change.
The path followed during the week led from ideas to action. After being introduced to the methodology of social guerrilla marketing and activism, for their final challenge the young participants designed and presented original social guerrilla campaigns. These creative interventions were developed to challenge traditional narratives around climate change and engage local communities in topics like fast fashion, digital consumption and climate justice, showing that even provocative, low cost communication can open meaningful conversations about the climate crisis.
Strengthening equality, rights and active citizenship across Europe is at the heart of our work, and this exchange, funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, shows our network’s full commitment to providing young leaders with the innovative tools needed to foster a more inclusive, sustainable and rights based society.
