This June, we took part in “Malmö Möts”, a new event organised by the City of Malmö to promote democracy, dialogue and active participation. For three days, the conference area hosted discussions, workshops and meeting spaces designed to bring citizens, organisations and institutions closer to one another.

Together with our partners we managed a shared information booth. The booth was designed to be fully accessible, offering clear verbal explanations and materials suitable for visitors who are blind or rely on screen readers. Throughout the event, we welcomed a steady flow of young people, citizens, associations and community groups interested in learning more about civic engagement and European opportunities.

A central part of our contribution involved presenting European pathways: current programmes, core values and upcoming initiatives that support participation, inclusion and democratic involvement. Many visitors were curious about how these opportunities can be used at local level and how European projects connect with everyday community life.

Another important theme was civic engagement. Conversations often focused on volunteering, equality and social inclusion, highlighting how grassroots initiatives can strengthen democratic culture. Visitors shared experiences from their communities, discussed challenges and explored ways to make participation more accessible to everyone.

The event also encouraged reflection on community building. By exchanging ideas and perspectives, participants explored practical ways to reinforce collaboration between citizens, organisations and institutions, both locally and across Europe.

Our work continues through the CERV Programme, which supports equality, rights and active citizenship across Europe. By connecting local communities with European opportunities, we aim to empower individuals to play an active role in shaping their communities and the future of Europe.
