From 23 August to 4 September, the international workcamp Cleaning of Nature Reserve 4 was held in Isola delle Femmine, in
the province of Palermo, in collaboration with LIPU. The group worked to protect the nature reserve through cleaning activities,
maintenance of the paths and conservation of the habitat, including the removal of waste and invasive alien species.

Alongside the environmental work, the volunteers took part in a training programme at MuST23 in Capaci.
The experience connected ecological responsibility with civic memory, thanks to collaboration with the organisation that preserves and
shares the history of the Capaci massacre of 23 May 1992. This encounter offered an opportunity to reflect on the link between care for
the territory, local communities and active participation.

Daily life within the group fostered collaboration, listening and intercultural communication. People from different countries shared work,
ideas and responsibilities, turning living together into an opportunity for collective growth.

The workcamp has ended, but its value remains evident: in a cleaner reserve, in the relationships that were created during the
experience, and in the sense of active citizenship that participants carry with them.

This activity was part of the IGNet annual workplan, supported by the CerveProgramme of the European Union, which supports initiatives
aimed at strengthening equality, the protection of fundamental rights and civic participation within the European Union.
