The international volunteering camp at the Emmaus community in Quarrata, in Tuscany, which we coordinated, has come to an end. It was an intense, deeply enriching journey that combined hands on environmental regeneration with meaningful social reflection, transforming both spaces and people.

Throughout the project, the participants fully immersed themselves in community life:

  • regeneration and creative reuse: working side by side with the people of the community, the volunteers took part in sorting materials, running the public solidarity flea market and carrying out circular economy actions;
  • social commitment and human rights: the camp was a real laboratory of active citizenship. The group joined a solidarity visit to a trade union picket line in Prato, to understand the realities of labour exploitation and to discuss social justice with local networks.

Strengthening equality, rights and active citizenship across Europe is at the heart of our work, in the framework of the CERV programme, which stands for Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values. By engaging young people in social reuse, supporting fair labour advocacy and fostering community inclusion, our network continues to empower people to stand up for human rights and sustainable development.
