From 22 to 24 April, a member of our staff took part in the TEC Mentor Training held in Rome. TEC (Training and Evaluation Cycle) is the official training programme for people involved in the European Solidarity Corps (ESC).

Organised by the Italian National Agency for Youth, the event brought together 50 mentors from host and support organisations across Italy. Mentors play a crucial role in the ESC: they accompany volunteers throughout their experience, ensuring that each project becomes a meaningful opportunity for personal growth, learning and inclusion. During the training, participants reflected collectively on the importance of their role within the programme and on the impact they have on young volunteers.

We regularly welcome and support young people in ESC volunteering projects, and we believe that international volunteering is a powerful tool for active participation and social inclusion. Investing in the skills of our mentors means investing in the quality of the experience we offer to every volunteer, especially those who may be facing vulnerable conditions or risks of social exclusion, who remain at the heart of our mission.

Moments of exchange like this one also strengthen the wider community of organisations working with the European Solidarity Corps throughout Italy, helping us grow together and further improving the support we provide. For our team, taking part in these trainings is also an important opportunity to deepen expertise and reinforce our commitment to high quality mentoring.
