An experience of inclusion and participation in the La Paz neighbourhood In recent weeks, a group of international volunteers took part in the activities of La Escuelita, a summer school for children and young people in the La Paz neighbourhood, an area facing significant social challenges. The socio educational activities involved around 70 children and young people aged between 5 and 18, providing an educational and recreational space during the summer. To meet the needs of different age groups, the participants were divided into four groups, with volunteers supporting the daily activities. The volunteers worked alongside local staff throughout the day, helping with breakfast, schoolwork and recreational activities. These included workshops, games and leisure activities, as well as time at the swimming pool and other outings organised as part of the summer programme. They also helped prepare and run the educational and recreational activities, working with the rest of the staff to ensure the smooth running of the programme. Through their contribution, the volunteers supported La Escuelita and helped create an educational and recreational experience for children and young people in the neighbourhood. The initiative was part of the VEIL CORPS project, co funded by the European Union and developed through a collaboration between InformaGiovani and Las Niñas del Tul.
