We met with three classes at Cannizzaro High School in Palermo for a journey of discovery into the European Union (EU) and the opportunities it offers. Using non formal education methods, we engaged the students in a dynamic programme designed to help them better understand the tools Europe provides for their personal and professional development.

During the session, we explored:

  • Mobility opportunities and practical tools for navigating European programmes;
  • The historical evolution of the EU, from the end of the war to today;
  • The importance of civil and human rights, rights we often take for granted, yet are the result of a long shared journey.

Seeing young people so attentive and engaged confirms how essential it is to bring active citizenship directly into schools. Promoting democratic participation and European values helps build a more inclusive and rights based society. This activity is part of our annual work plan funded by the CERV programme (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) of the European Union.
